Oak Island is home to the famous American Beach Grass, a vegetation found on the NC Coastline in each of the barrier islands. Providing a beneficial component to the coastal ecosystem, the beach grass not only helps to stabilize sand dunes and more fragile vegetation, it helps to protect coastal wildlife as well, while adding a lush and beautiful accent to our charming coastal shores!
